What it leaves on the coat

A fine mist, not an oil slick

Hold the bottle six to eight inches out and mist until the coat is lightly damp. Work it through the legs, the belly and behind the ears with your hand.

Let the coat air dry before your dog is back on the couch. There is no oily residue once it is dry.

Shake the bottle every time, because the oils separate on the shelf.

When to reach for it

  • The walk through long grass, misted on the legs and belly at the door
  • Short trips out to the yard, several times a day in summer
  • Camping and car trips, where a 100 ml bottle fits in the park bag
  • A house with more than one dog, where one bottle does everyone before the walk

Why it lives by the door

Peppermint, clove, tea tree and aloe

The oils in the bottle are peppermint oil, clove eugenol and tea tree oil, with aloe extract. Those same oils are the reason it is for dogs only.

Grab it on the way out

No mixing, no gloves, no waiting around. Shake it, mist the legs and belly, clip the leash, and let the coat air dry on the way.

It smells like what is in it

There is no added fragrance. It smells of peppermint, clove and tea tree because those are the oils in it, and the smell fades as the coat dries.

How to use it

1

Shake and mist

Shake the bottle properly, hold it six to eight inches from the coat, and mist until lightly damp. Keep it away from the eyes, nose and mouth.

2

Work it through

Run it through with your hand, concentrating on the legs, the belly and behind the ears. Those are the places that brush against grass first.

3

Let it dry

Air dry the coat all the way before your dog is back on the furniture. Reapply before outdoor time, or every few days through the season.

What is in the box

One 100 ml (3.38 fl oz) spray bottle. The label lists tea tree oil, peppermint oil, clove eugenol and aloe extract. Shake it every time, because the oils separate on the shelf.

Questions people ask first

Will this get rid of the fleas my dog already has?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. This is a mist you put on before the walk. It is not a treatment for an animal that already has fleas or ticks. If your dog has them right now, call your vet, get the treatment, finish it properly, and use this afterward for the walks.
Does it actually kill fleas and ticks?
The bottle label says it kills fleas and ticks. We do not claim that, and there is no kill rate on this page, because we have not tested it. It is a peppermint, clove and tea tree mist for the coat before the walk, not a treatment for fleas or ticks your dog already has. The label also says it is for cats and dogs. We say dogs only, for the reason in the next answer.
Can I use it on my cat?
No, and we would rather say that plainly. The ingredient list includes tea tree oil, peppermint oil and clove eugenol, and essential oils like these are widely reported as harmful to cats, even in small amounts. Use it on dogs only, and keep cats away from a freshly sprayed dog until the coat is dry. If your cat has fleas, ask your vet for a treatment made for cats.
Can I use it with the flea treatment my vet gave us?
Ask your vet. They know what your dog is already on, and that is not a call for us to make from a product page. This is meant to sit alongside what your vet prescribes, not to replace it.
How often can I use it?
Daily is fine for most dogs. Reapply before outdoor time, or every few days through flea and tick season. Back off right away if you see any redness or scratching at the spot you sprayed.
Some got in my dog’s eye, or they licked it. What do I do?
Rinse the eye with clean water. If your dog swallowed any, or the irritation does not settle, call your vet. Do not wait it out. Keep the bottle out of reach between uses.
